What Is a Page Size Checker?

Short answer
A page size checker is a tool that measures how much data a web page downloads. It adds up the HTML, CSS, JavaScript, images and fonts, counts the files and shows which ones are the biggest, so you know what to shrink to make the page load faster.

Heavy pages load slowly, especially on phones and slow networks, and they use more of your visitors’ data. Images and JavaScript are usually the biggest part. This tool shows exactly where the weight comes from and gives quick wins, like compressing HTML, lazy-loading images or cutting font weights.

How Sizes Are Measured

What the numbers mean.

Sizes are the bytes downloaded for each file. If the server compresses a file with gzip or Brotli, the smaller compressed size is what visitors download.

Total page weight = HTML + CSS + JavaScript + images + fonts + other files.

Accuracy in plain words

Files loaded later by JavaScript, like ads, chat widgets and lazy images, may not be counted, so the real page in a browser can be heavier. For a full browser test, use our PageSpeed Checker.

Keep in mind
Page size is one part of speed. Server time and how files load matter too.

Is this page size checker free?

Yes. It is 100% free, with no sign-up.

What is a good page size?

Under 1 MB is light. 1 to 2.5 MB is normal. Over 2.5 MB is heavy and over 5 MB is very heavy, so it is worth slimming down.

Usually large images, lots of JavaScript and many font files.

Does page size affect SEO?

Indirectly. Heavier pages load slower, which can hurt Core Web Vitals and user experience.

Why is my page heavier in the browser?

Some files load later through JavaScript, like ads and chat widgets. This tool counts the files linked in the HTML.

How do I make images smaller?

Resize them to the size they are shown, compress them and use WebP or AVIF.
