What Is a Domain Age Checker?

Short answer
A domain age checker is a tool that shows how long ago a domain name was first registered. It also shows when the domain expires, who the registrar is and whether the domain is locked. This tool uses RDAP, the official, modern replacement for WHOIS.

People check domain age to judge a website before buying links, buying the domain or trusting a seller. An old domain often means an established business, but it is not a ranking factor on its own. Google has said that domain age does not directly help rankings. What matters is the history and quality of the site.

RDAP vs WHOIS

Why we use RDAP.

RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol) is the official replacement for WHOIS. It returns clean, structured data from the registry, so dates and statuses are reliable. ICANN requires registries and registrars of generic domains like .com to support RDAP.

Some country domains, like many ccTLDs, do not offer RDAP yet. For those, the tool tells you no data was found.

Is the Domain Age Checker Accurate?

Yes. Dates and statuses come straight from the official registry through RDAP. Age is a simple sum: today minus the registration date.

Accuracy in plain words

Domain age is the age of the current registration. If a domain expired and was registered again, the age starts from the new date, even if the name was used before. Use our Wayback History Checker to see older history.

Keep in mind
Domain age alone is not a Google ranking factor. Look at the site’s history and quality too.

Domain Age Checker FAQ

Quick answers to the questions people ask most about this tool.

Enter the domain in the tool. It shows the registration date and the age in years and days.

Is this domain age checker free?

Yes. It is 100% free, with no sign-up.

Does domain age help SEO?

Not directly. Google has said domain age is not a ranking factor on its own. An older site may have more content and links, which do matter.

What is RDAP?

RDAP is the modern, official replacement for WHOIS. It gives clean, structured registration data.

Why is there no data for my domain?

Some country domain endings do not offer RDAP yet, so their data is not available.

How many domains can I check?

Up to 20 domains at once.
