Ads.txt means “Authorized Digital Sellers”. It was created by the IAB Tech Lab to stop ad fraud, where fake sellers pretend to sell ads on your site. Most ad buyers will not pay for ads on a site with a missing or wrong ads.txt file, so one small mistake can cut your earnings.
https://example.com/ads.txt. A subfolder will not work.| Part | Example | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Ad system domain | google.com | The domain of the ad company that sells your ads |
| Account ID | pub-0000000000000000 | Your publisher ID at that company |
| Relationship | DIRECT or RESELLER | DIRECT if you control the account, RESELLER if a partner sells for you |
| Certification ID (optional) | f08c47fec0942fa0 | The ad system’s ID from the Trustworthy Accountability Group (TAG) |
| CONTACT | contact=ads@example.com | Who to contact about this file |
| OWNERDOMAIN | ownerdomain=example.com | The business domain that owns the site |
| MANAGERDOMAIN | managerdomain=partner.com | A company that manages your ad inventory |
Add sellers one by one, or paste full lines from your ad networks. Comments and blank lines are handled for you.
In your browserThe ad system must be a domain, the account ID must be there, and the type must be DIRECT or RESELLER.
In your browserAdSense IDs must start with pub- and have 16 digits. The tool warns you if one looks wrong.
In your browserLines that are the same are only kept once, so the file stays clean.
In your browserSellers come first, then the CONTACT, OWNERDOMAIN and MANAGERDOMAIN records, ready to download.
In your browserDIRECT or RESELLER.# are comments.CONTACT=, OWNERDOMAIN= and MANAGERDOMAIN= use the name=value format.# ads.txt for example.com google.com, pub-0000000000000000, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0 example-network.com, 12345, RESELLER contact=ads@example.com ownerdomain=example.com
The tool checks the format of each line. It cannot check whether an account ID really belongs to you, because only the ad network knows that. Always copy IDs straight from your ad accounts.
Make the file for a website or for a mobile or TV app.
Paste the lines your ad networks gave you in one go.
Every line is checked, with a clear message for each problem.
Repeated lines are removed automatically.
Add CONTACT, OWNERDOMAIN and MANAGERDOMAIN in a click.
Get the finished file ready to upload to your site root.
Fix the "ads.txt file not found" warning and protect your earnings.
List every network that sells ads on your pages.
Create app-ads.txt for apps that show ads.
Merge seller lines from many partners into one clean file.

How useful was the Ads.txt Generator for you?
Ratings come from real visitors. One rating per person. We never add, edit or remove ratings.
An ads.txt file is a plain text file that lists every company allowed to sell ads on your website. Ad buyers check it to make sure they are buying real ad space from you, not from a fake seller.
Yes. It is 100% free, with no sign-up and no limits.
It is google.com, pub-0000000000000000, DIRECT, f08c47fec0942fa0, with your own publisher ID in place of the zeros. You can find your ID in your AdSense account.
Upload it to the root folder of your main domain, so it opens at https://yourdomain.com/ads.txt. It will not work in a subfolder.
Use DIRECT when you own the ad account. Use RESELLER when another company sells your ads through their own account.
app-ads.txt is the same idea for mobile and TV apps. It goes on the developer website listed in your app store page.
Ad systems re-read the file on their own schedule, so changes can take a few days to show in your ad account.
