How the IndexNow Submitter Works
- 01
A key is made
A random key of 32 letters and numbers is created in your browser. IndexNow keys can be 8 to 128 characters.
In your browser - 02
URLs are collected
URLs you paste are cleaned, or read from your sitemap. Duplicates are removed.
Browser and our server - 03
The key file is checked
Our server opens yourdomain.com/key.txt and checks that it contains your key.
Our server - 04
URLs are sent
All URLs go to the shared IndexNow endpoint in one request, up to 10,000 at a time.

IndexNow Rules We Follow
- The key must be 8 to 128 characters: letters, numbers and dashes.
- The key file must be a UTF-8 text file at your site root, named after the key, and contain only the key.
- All URLs in one submit must belong to the same host as the key.
- One request can hold up to 10,000 URLs.
- A submit to one IndexNow search engine is shared with all the others.
Is the IndexNow Submitter Accurate?
- New keys follow the 8 to 128 character rule
- The key file check finds missing or wrong files
- URLs from a sitemap load correctly
- Large lists up to 10,000 URLs are sent in one request
- Every response code shows the right message
Accuracy in plain words
A 200 or 202 answer means the URLs were received. It does not mean the pages are indexed yet. Each search engine decides when and if it crawls and indexes a page.

What is IndexNow?
IndexNow is a free way to tell search engines that a page was added, changed or deleted. It was launched by Microsoft Bing and Yandex, and other search engines have joined since.
Does Google use IndexNow?

Where do I put the IndexNow key file?
Upload it to the root of your website, so it opens at https://yourdomain.com/yourkey.txt. The file should contain only your key.
How many URLs can I submit?
