Why We Created SpellMistake
In our daily SEO and marketing work we kept running the same small checks: fixing typos before a post goes live, testing if a meta title fits on Google, checking a redirect, finding a broken link. Each check is simple, but the tools for them were often slow, full of popups, locked behind a sign up or part of an expensive SEO suite.
Many free tools also showed scores with no source, or followed rules that Google had changed years ago. We wanted tools we could trust for client work, so we started building our own.
SpellMistake is the result: free tools that each do one job well, follow current Google documentation and explain every result in plain words. We use them ourselves every day, and we share them so anyone can publish clean, correct and search-ready content.

How We Create Each Tool

- 01
Find a real need
Ideas come from user requests, from our own daily SEO work and from keyword research in Ahrefs that shows what people search for. We only build a tool if it solves a real, repeated task.
Muhammad and Afza - 02
Write the spec
We write down exactly what the tool checks, which rules it follows and what the result should look like. Rules come from Google Search Central and official standards, such as RFC 9309 for robots.txt, the sitemaps.org protocol and schema.org.
Muhammad - 03
Build the tool
Writing tools run in your browser, so your text stays on your device. Tools that read other websites use a secure server check, and data tools connect to trusted sources such as Google PageSpeed Insights and Ahrefs.
Hassan - 04
Test against known answers
We run each tool on test cases where the correct answer is already known and compare results with official tools. A tool is not published until every test passes.
Hassan and Muhammad - 05
Write the help content
Each tool gets plain word instructions, an explanation of every result and an FAQ, so you know what to fix and why.
Afza - 06
Launch, listen and improve
After launch we watch error logs and user feedback, and improve the tool in our monthly reviews.

How We Test Tools and Handle Errors

Before launch
Every tool must pass these checks before it goes live.
- Test cases with known correct answers
- Results compared with official tools such as Google Rich Results Test and PageSpeed Insights
- Edge cases: empty input, very long text, special characters and broken URLs
- Tested in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge, on desktop and mobile
- Speed and accessibility checks
Error handling in every tool
When something goes wrong, the tool tells you clearly.
- Your input is checked first, with a clear message if something is missing or wrong
- Time limits stop a slow website from freezing the tool
- If a data source is down, the tool says so instead of showing a guess
- A backup method is used where possible, such as a server check when the browser cannot reach a page
- Fair use limits keep the tools fast for everyone
After launch
Testing does not stop when a tool goes live.
- Every tool is tested again every month
- Bug reports from users are handled as a high priority
- Errors are logged and reviewed by the developer
- Every fix is tested again before it is released
How Often We Review Our Tools
Bug fixes
When you report a bug, we check it, reproduce it and fix it as a high priority. If you leave your email, we let you know when it is fixed.
Full tool check
Every tool is tested again with our test cases to make sure the results are still correct.
Rules and data sources review
We check for changes in Google documentation, web standards and the data sources our tools use, and update the tools when something changes.
Release testing
Every new feature and every fix is tested before it goes live.

How Accurate Are SpellMistake Tools?
| Tool type | How it works | Accuracy | Keep in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Page checksMeta Tags Analyzer, Headings Extractor, Broken Links Checker, HTTP Status Checker | We read the live page or server reply at the moment you run the check. | Exact | Results show what the server returned at that moment. Some sites block bots or show different pages by country. |
| Generators and validatorsRobots.txt Generator, XML Sitemap Generator, Schema Markup Generator | Built on the official rules: RFC 9309 for robots.txt, the sitemaps.org protocol and schema.org. | High | Test important changes in Google Search Console before you rely on them. |
| Writing toolsSpell Checker, Grammar Checker, Article Rewriter | Spelling uses Hunspell dictionaries for US and UK English. Grammar checks use LanguageTool rules. | High | Names, brands and new words may be flagged. Grammar and rewrite suggestions are advice, so review them before you accept. |
| Data toolsPageSpeed Checker, Core Web Vitals Checker, Domain Rating Checker | Real data from Google PageSpeed Insights, the Chrome UX Report, Ahrefs and other trusted sources. | Same as source | As accurate as the source. We show where the data comes from and never fill gaps with made-up numbers. |
| Snippet previewsMeta Title Checker, SERP Simulator | Titles and descriptions are measured in pixels to match how Google shows them. | Close estimate | Google can shorten or rewrite titles and descriptions, so use the preview as a close guide. |
| CalculatorsSEO ROI Calculator, Keyword Value Estimator, Backlink Price Calculator | Clear formulas applied to the numbers you enter. | Estimate | The maths is exact, but the result is only as good as your inputs. Use it for planning, not as a promise. |
Think a result is wrong? Send us the details and we will check it against our test cases and the official source.

About SpellMistake FAQ
Who created SpellMistake?
SpellMistake was founded by Muhammad Ahtesham, an SEO strategist. It is built with Afza, a marketing expert and co-founder, and Hassan, a senior web developer. Each of them has more than four years of experience in their field.
Why was SpellMistake created?
We built SpellMistake because the small SEO and writing checks we run every day were often slow, locked behind a sign up or based on old rules. We wanted free tools we could trust for our own work, and we share them with everyone.
How many tools does SpellMistake have?
SpellMistake has more than 40 free tools in 8 categories, including writing tools, on-page SEO, technical SEO, site health, SERP tools, links, calculators and web utilities. The list keeps growing.
Are SpellMistake tools free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use and you do not need an account. Fair use limits keep the tools fast for everyone.
How accurate are SpellMistake tools?
Page checks show exactly what a server returned at that moment. Generators follow official standards. Data tools are as accurate as their source, such as Google PageSpeed Insights or Ahrefs. Calculators and snippet previews are estimates by design.
How do you test the tools?
Each tool is tested with known correct answers, compared with official tools, and checked on all major browsers and on mobile before launch. Every tool is tested again every month.
How often are the tools updated?
Every tool gets a full check every month, together with a review of Google documentation and data source changes. Bug reports are fixed as a high priority, and every fix is tested before release.
What should I do if a tool gives a wrong result?
Use the contact form and choose Report a bug. Add the tool name, what you entered and what happened. We check it against our test cases and fix confirmed bugs as a high priority.
Do you save my text or data?
No. Writing tools run in your browser where possible, and we do not save the text or URLs you check.
